Stadium Application Submitted
The Macquarie Point Development Corporation has submitted its Project of State Significance (PoSS) application to the Tasmanian Planning Commission to start the assessment process for the Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium
Venues
Stadiums Tasmania was established to be the owner and operator of Tasmania’s largest and best-known outdoor stadiums and indoor arenas. Currently, Stadiums Tasmania is expected to assume responsibility for up to five venues. This includes two existing venues in Launceston, namely University of Tasmania Stadium (UTAS Stadium) and the Silverdome, and two existing venues in Hobart, namely MyState Bank Arena, and Bellerive Oval. Stadiums Tasmania is currently negotiating the transfer of these venues with the respective owner operators. Stadiums Tasmania will also assume the role of owner/operator of Mac Point Stadium in Hobart. Dial Park has been identified as a potential venue for Stadiums Tasmania to assume ownership and operation, with further investigation required to determine whether it is appropriate for inclusion within the Stadiums Tasmania portfolio.
UTAS Stadium
UTAS Stadium is the Tasmanian home of Hawthorn Football Club, the northern home venue for the Hobart Hurricanes and hosts a broad range of sporting and entertainment events.
Silverdome
The Silverdome is a multi-purpose indoor sport and events venue in Launceston, Tasmania. It is the northern home venue for the Tasmania JackJumpersand the northern home base for the Tasmanian Institute of Sport. It boasts the southern hemisphere’s first indoor velodrome, and can host a wide range of indoor entertainment, sporting, exhibition and conference events.
Mac Point Stadium
Mac Point will be home to an iconic stadium for Tasmania, serving as a destination for both locals and visitors. This premier multipurpose facility will be the go-to venue for sports, arts, events, and entertainment in Tasmania.
MyState Bank Arena
MyState Bank Arena is a multi-purpose indoor sport and events venue in Hobart, Tasmania. It is the largest indoor sport and entertainment venue in Tasmania.
Bellerive Oval
Bellerive Oval is the home of the Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmanian Tigers cricket teams, the Tasmanian home of North Melbourne Football Club, and regularly hosts international cricket matches.
